Biography
 Joel "Masacote" Massicot is equally skilled in both music & dance. His focus lies in the relation of notes to movement.
Currently a student at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, Joel began training in music in 1986 and has previously also studied the prestigious Howard University in the Jazz Studies department. In 1995, he began his formal training in salsa dance and began to merge his skills in music and dance.
Joel has since traveled to 30+ countries performing and teaching around the world. His impeccable ear for music and application towards dance have earned him worldwide respect in the salsa industry. He co-founded Masacote Dance Company with wife Ana Masacote in 2003.
Joel and wife Ana are taking the dance world by storm with their unique artistry of merging music and dance. They have broken new ground in 2006 (performing and choreographing to music created by them and for them by Joel Massicot himself). In 2008, Masacote became the first Salsa dance company in the world to create a scripted theater production, entitled "Fantagious," with all music and dance compositions created solely by Masacote.
Joel has been the recipient of the "Dancer of the Month" 2001 award by Sabor Magazine and has been featured with Ana in the April 2009 Issue of Mambo Scene Magazine . Along with Ana, he currently embarks on 2-5 week European, Asian, and US tours every 2-3 months. They were the Guests of Honor at the 2007 Curacao Salsa Festival, 2007 Murcia International Salsa Congress, 2009 Lithuania Sala Festival, 2009 Japan Salsa Congres, 2009 Bangkok Salsa Festival, 2010 Hong Kong Festival, and 2010 & 2011 Rome Festival. Appearances include Italy, France, Turkey, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, England, Spain, Germany, Bermuda, Puerto Rico, Canada, and throughout the US, among others.
His musicality workshops are one of his most requested and his music cds and dvds are spreading like wildfire around the globe.
